The odd trapezoidal shapes flip back and forth from 2D to 3D when I see it as a shallow space, less so when it recedes further away from me.
That's indeed the sort of spatial ambiguity I'm after (most of the time). In order for it to work, I apparently need to put a sock in it. Noted!

stinkie, I originally thought it was a much smaller space as well. I think I also prefer that small space feel. It seems more claustraphobic that way and seems to reinforce the dismal feeling of the image imo.

What sort of photoshop work did you do hear? I'm assuming some noise, blur, and perhaps some slight color adjustments? Or is the blur strictly rendered DOF?

Desaturation, noise, gaussian blur and levels. In this order.

I was wondering if you desaturated. Do you render in color then? If so why? Do you find you end up with more control post-process or more realism perhaps?

Sorry, Brodie, I was thinking of another image I just did. This one I didn't desaturate, as I didn't use any colors. When I do use color, I usually do desaturate the image a bit. Nothing to do with control or realism: I just muck about until I feel the image looks good.

Have you started selling this stuff yet? Do you have an online portfolio of your work or anything?

No. I feel it isn't good enough yet. I am fussy.

I have a site, but I haven't done anything with it yet - for the reason I stated above.
