its a modeling plugin for making organic forms. its $22 but its well worth it.

Search this forum for subdivide and smooth and there's tons of information and tutorials. try youtube also.

I made this building with it a while back, lots of possibilities:

          😲 Wow, Oliver!
This is starting to look like a work of art! It reminds me of Max Ernst's painting La joie de vivre.

              Miguel...the similarites are ridiculous!!

I've never seen that painting before but the concept behind the artist's approach is pretty much the same as mine. It's like a study into curiosity, intimidation and fear. The fear of the unknown, what we can't see. It symbolises the human condition and the deep complexity of our minds....a jungle of thoughts, fears and expectations along this path of life.

              That's my philosophy 😄

He he he... what you just wrote sounds like something out of Pinky and the Brain's "Pinkasso" episode. 😉

Anyway, Max Ernst has very different styles, be sure to check out the rest of his work. 😎

Great image Oli. I presume this is HDR lighting and background. Impressive really. How long was cooking for?

Thanks very much Sid, your kind words mean a lot. Yes spherical HDR and sun-to a rough stone template on the texture. Again, I changed background after cos I like to play with overlays on it to get the graduated tone. The sun and rays are completely wrong though hehe!! 😳

I painted some more colour in PS though. New Layer > Blending Mode > Color> get a soft brush> paint some blues, oranges, yellows, greens> change layer opacity....looks great. Also if you 'color range' the shadows and duplicate them onto a new layer you can give them a spooky blue hue with 'colorize'. Again, change blending mode to 'color'.

I need to do another iteration of subsmooth. I will share the model when its finished mate.

Miguel I wasn't ignoring your last post about this technique, I just forgot to reply sorry. I tend to re-apply the sky on another layer in PS so I have more control over it....I am very fussy! I used an alpha mask at 3x viewport resolution so it was extra crisp. I will use your method for everything else though it makes sense.

[edit] Sid....I left it cooking for 15 hours but 2 hours would have been enough really. I like to leave stuff rendering overnight cos you get a little present in the morning!! It only took 10 seconds to process the geometry 😄 It's quite slow at the moment though cos I'm running windows through vmware fusion on mac....so the mac version should be much quicker for me 😄

About textures: Have you tried to project a huge texture? You're not going for animation, are you?

the last one with texture is great. although im still vying for a much smoother texture. perhaps add more itiration. because if its organic, the more it would deviate from polygonal looking. just imho ok.

HI Nomer, yeah I understand, this was more of a tester because it's already 53,000 edges! However, new SU 7.1 allows for much better navigation around the model.

The final one will be silky smooth, I'm still working on the 'proxy', not this mesh. Texturing is native SU with big seamless texture btw.

Michalis I can't use boot camp...i tried it once and failed, I dont have the correct windows/service packs etc. 😢

without lens flare and a bit spookier:

Try exporting to Kerkythea and doing a couple extra smoothing steps there.
