Needed an image for a website to promote landscape design, most plants and all objects are SU models, rendered with Vue.

hey, that's sure a great concept. Love to know how you did this? But realize you a busy guy. Thanks for the post all the same

Is Vue better the VRay? I've got VRay and find it hard to operate. Even after following all the tutorials on the forums? Guess I'm not meant to render

                  Thanks y'all.

Tom, The plan was added first as a ground plane, then the compass, pencils and eraser was imported from SU and textured then placed, a new layer was made for the solid growth plants and another for my SU imported plants.
I set up the sun to match the sketch shading which made it work well and blend great.

Rich, I'd like to say Vue is better but truthfully I cannot as they both have their separate strengths and weaknesses not forgetting unique bugs. As far as learning curve goes, I'd say Vray is easier to learn and master even though Vue is quicker to get a grasp on the elementary stuff, the true strength of Vue is very difficult to master especially the function editor which still has me bamboozled.

                    That looks really great, Pete.

I was just wondering if you had upgraded to Vue 7.5 (from 7), and if you think it is worth it. If so, did you have to re-download all your Cornucopia3D purchases?

Daniel, I never upgraded to 7.5, IMO it's not worth the maintenance contract, it has a few additional features like planets and better 3rd party integration that I do not need at moment. I'm hoping that they scoop me up for the Vue 8 beta team however (was asked the other day so it may happen) that way I can save on the next upgrade.

As far as Cornucopia stuff goes, I have a Cornucopia folder on my machine and shorcuts in my object library to it, that way I never have to re-install and I can use it with all versions (I normally keep the previous version as a backup as not all new versions are as stable as one would hope)

Wow, I love it Pete! Awesome design! Probably my favorite of all your stuff. (I'm a little partial though) πŸ‘ πŸ‘ Scale of the compass makes it look likes it drawn on 8.5x11 though.

Did you do the hand render as well?

                                Thanks again guys.

Adam, sadly not, I have a bunch of really good hand drawn sketches from a few years back when I did this for a living (and oh I do miss that steady pay check) but my Visioneer piece of crap scanner does not want to play with Vista, so until I either get a new scanner or they decide publish a Vista driver I'm out of luck.

I have a couple more of the same kind of doodle, it's been a slow week. 😞
