WIP GP 9 LOCOMOTIVE
-
Thanks Dantheman for keeping me honest, but in fairness i had said that i was completely re-drawing the WHOLE bogie having gotten some clear images to work from. thanks for the pic and site you posted...more tonight (SA time) cheers
-
I did better than expected today appart from a fair amount of detail to the loco shell i also re-drew the bogie to me it looks much better than before
Don't ask about the polly count that's out the window I have decided to plow on and finish the model then return and seriously tackle the problem of polly reduction.
The drawing from which the latest 2D pics was taken is 4.89 meg and rising -
this is gonna deserve an awesome render.
-
Looking good
-
Today i did the tedious job of the side panels of the loco
http://i458.photobucket.com/albums/qq304/dolphus_006/TUE2.pngAnd i am not cheating with the clasps, hinges and louver panels
aaahh the 'work goes onn......
-
More progress with doing the boring bits now for some of the bits i am looking forward to
and some of the detail
-
One more step completed (detail on roof) more tomorrow
-
Almost finished with Phase 1 couple of missing bits to fill in still

Whaoo Dolphus
I like the way you're displaying the progress. Quite impressed, now I know that I'm not alone to need so many
time to achieve complex drawings.MALAISE
-
Excellent, so many details, how big is this model!
-
The main file is about 9;46 meg at the moment but i am working in bits and pieces in various other drawings of the same project, that is where i am now running into problems with rendering the model the following ate the bestquality that i can get at the moment without my poor old laptop bombing out
-
Thats looking good! What are you using to render, I joined these forums to find a good renderer for sketchup on the MAC and would be interested in the one your using here? ANyway looking forward to this finished ill have to keep my eye on it!
-
Thanks for the kind words i am using Kerkythea but still have a lot to learn about rendering i don't think i am going to get much further than i am now either the file is to big or i have a glitch in my laptop
BUT NEVER SAY DIE -
you mean the file is too big for kerk or SU? I thought your model size was just under 10MB?, is it usual for kerk to struggle with models 10MB plus or does it depend on your computer?
