Ramy, what a fantastic rendering! I'd say superb, but I am wondering where the half-naked people are one would expect to find in such a setting.

          My avatar is an anachronism.

Simply awesome, the modeling and rendering, hard to look at not realize that it's not picture. That water is incredible.

Mental ray is that some kind of psychic rendering program.

              Best,

Thanks for all the comments and kind words! Everything was modeled in sketchUp except for the diving platforms, diving boards, lane donuts, and water. They were modeled in 3DS Max 2009. Of course I could have modeled them in SU but I already had them modeled in Max.

Lovely work mate. I thought I had already commented on it but then realised I hadn't.

Thanks for your blog work and sharing the mental ray love.

Yea, these are fantastic. I think what I like most is that the back areas of all three are a little over exposed, giving them a 2d line work or illustration quality. From that point they seem to transform into fully rendered photorealistic images. This is especially evident in the second image, from top right to bottom left. The third image is my favorite, due to my graphic design background I suppose. Nice composition.

                          Very well done.

I have a Revit 2009 guy at our office wanting me to sit down with him and help him understand some basic rendering techniques. The render engine for 2009 is Mental Ray. I really think these are some of the best Mental Ray images I've seen and I don't think MR offers as much control in Revit as it does when exported/imported into 3dsMax. Any experience with Mental Ray outside of Max?

Ramy these really are amazing renders! Would never have thought they were done with Mentalray!

My only suggestion and looking at the indoor pool at home here - where you have any light coming into the enclosure one would normally see some caustics at least at the bottom and sides of the pool. These can easily be added to the pool textures to do a great job at faking the effect!
