Windows 7
-
I've got better things to do with my time!
-
Windows 7 looks about as cutting edge as an abacus and an absolute total insult to everybody that got conned with Vista. If Windows 7 is really worth having MS should give a free upgrade to Vista buyers. It wouldn't surprise me though if the release of Win 7 does even more for mac sales than Vista did.
-
Well I'm posting this from a windows 7 laptop and all is going well so far. having said that installing was a bit tricky, all seems to be working though. Not a lot of new stuff though, seems very much like a polished version of vista, a well polished version though.
-
How's SketchUp behaving on it?
-
First cool new thlng: hand writing recognition is really good. It's at the point where its actually usable, although I'm not Sure how much youd want to write before it got hard work.
-
Haven't tried yet, that going to be this evenings activity.

Remus
There is a saying
"You can't polish ****"
I want to hate it but I haven't tried it. I'll run it in virtual box rather than installing.
-
I'll leave you to make your own judgements jon, im fairly sold so far, though. Plenty of time left for finding blidning cockups though.
That reminds me: they put the shutdown button on the start menu this time. Rejoice!
-
Sketchup seems to work ok so far, havent tried loading any big files though as the laptop hasnt got a graphics card, so no hardware acceleration for me. Havent tried any plugins either.
-
In yet more exciting news, i hear windows 7 can burn .iso images without the need for additional software.
-
theres a very good round up here: http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/23/windows-7-beta-in-depth-impressions/#comments for anyone whos still interested.

The Vista haters are wrong.
Since SP1, Vista became very stable and better than XP.I will go Windows 7, but probably when I need to buy a new PC.
That's the bad remark I have about Microsoft: migrating from an old to a new OS is a fuss. -
I'm just not finding that. I have Sp1 installed and vista still seems very clunky.
-
Don't go disagreeing with people again, Jon. You know it upsets them. Have you no empathy?
But on a more serious note: I liked XP better as well. Vista's not bad, but there's certain things that'll drive you mad.
-
I hope to be using XP for a couple of more years... Hopefully SU will be released for Linux by then

-
I have the 32bit version, so maybe the 64bit version is much better.
-
64 bit and 32 bit are essentiallly the samre as far as im aware.
As for peoples annoyance at vista, i reckon a large part of it comes from UAC.

I think you could be right about that. What were they thinking? Apart from being annoyed with UAC, I personally don't have anything against Vista.
Oh ... MS should kill Windows Media Player. Anyone use that piece of junk?
-
I am using it right now.
