PS Elements 6 & Snap Art

Hi Guys,

I upgraded my old version of PhotoShop Elements 1.01 to the new
Version 6. It has a much better GUI and is easier to work with.

I also downloaded the Snap Art demo from Alien Skin and am playing
around with the various styles, quite impressive!

PS: The attached images show the various styles. The before and
after picture of the Old Man and Child is a great photo. I wonder
what the child was thinking at the time? ..... I haven't a hope of
out slurping this old guy!

I have SnapArt and use it a lot - though my results still don't look anything like their examples! Maybe in a few years time.

Here's a little worksheet for an illustration where I used SnapArt (step 5) with SketchUp, Kerkythea, the Gimp and Xara. (I'm sure they weren't necessarily the best tools - just what came to hand.)

Hi Bob,

Isn't that always the case. I suppose they feel its best to use
perfect examples.

That was a big workflow there. One of my favourite 'All Round'
Apps is still Canvas X (Mac & Win), its also very good for this
type of work. Only problem is that the new owners aren't producing
Mac updates any longer.

I see you are from Britany! I spend a great family holiday in
Carnac some years ago, beautiful countryside

Never tried that, I'm on Windows so I can give the Canvas 11 trial a go in a week or so. My preference at the moment is Xara Xtreme as it has a good blend of vector and bitmap capabilities (and can use many PS Plugins). But it has some shortcomings when you come to more sophisticated layer effects in one direction - and some of the Visio-like diagramming tools in the other.

Yep Bob, Canvas 11 is the current version of Canvas. The company
that owns the software have decided in their wisdom not to upgrade
the Mac version of Canvas But since I've moved to Mac I tend not
to use it as much as I did when on Windows and I have found a number
of small compact programs that do the bits and pieces that Canvas
did for me AND they open in a second

Canvas is what I'd call 'a jack of all trades' piece of software.
I'd be interested in hearing how you get on with it.
