Vray and Podium Render
-
Nice one Nome, Is this with 1.5b?
-
@ aces...
bloom is a post production technique...
u can find it a tutorial here : http://www.oferz.com/Tutorials/BloomEffect/BloomEffect.html -
thank you guys for all your comments and encouragement.
i tried to post the vray version but it seems the site can only handled maximum of 800pixel. so i need to resize it and use imageshack to host it.
the bloom... actually i use Post processing using photoshop, i use a slight diffuse glow filter. i found diffuse works better in diffusing the highlights only. if you are blurring the whole image then adjusting the opacity, most likely you will affect even the shadows and mid tones.
here is a link for my quick tutorial.
http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/supodiumforum/vpost?id=1719221now there are some hard areas you dont want to be affected by the filter, therefore you use soft eraser to show the underneath layer.
i will try to send some more images later using vray and podium.
even though they are different softwares, i like them both becuase they serve different things. i love podium because its very easy to use and to set up so the learning curve is really quick at the same time its the software im introducing to our school. it really works hand in hand with Su, with regarsds to efficiency and fundametal approach to 3d.of course the more we mature, the more we long for realism and i think vray and maxwell has edge on this. but since i have experience with max and vray, i continue this when they released the vray sketchup. at the moment its kinda buggy (particularly in re-mapping).
the funny thing is why i say they are compatible, vray accept those, reflections assigned with poidum in SU and not only that even the bump map now in 1.5. unofrtunately clipmap works differently.
nece meeting you all guys here in this forum. ( hi biebel, solo and sepo)
@solo. it was rendered using the old version 1.41

ok here is the image
-
here are some more renders

nomeradona - I'm gobsmacked! That's some really tasty work. Thanks for sharing and for making the 'bloom' concept easier to understand.

These look great.
The next to last image with the graphic style lines, is this done in Photoshop? Ive seen this in the past and wondered exactly how it is achieved.
-
@ Dylan.. its with photoshop. i think zem had a tutorial on how to combine render image and su render image. i just improvised his technique. anyway the main principle is to export an image using style and a render image. but the view should be the same. then put them on different layers in photoshop. make the opacity of the top level lesser, so that you can see the bottom level. once the top and bottom layer are alligned, you can make the opacity 100% and play with the top level. in my case i use soft eraser and erase the top level. once satisfied, thats it.
Censored to protect your privacy. i smiled because i put a big smile on you.. -
ok here is another one. a night scene showing different light source.

Is Podium better than Artlantis?
[AcesHigh]
-
I say it is better but than I would say that wouldn't I.
-
I think you just said it Sid!
By the way, imho Podium is easier than artlantis ....but there is rumour that a new Artlantis studio is coming up with better output quality than the old one.....so who knows what the near future brings.
-
to be honest, i havent tried atlantis. but i tried podium since its version 1. i could attest how much it improved and how much easy to set it up and its really joy to do quick thing and with quality images. if you are looking for a software that works hand in hand with SU, i think podium is.
-
These really are a joy to behold! Very artistic! Thanks for sharing.
-
thanks tom for the compliment
-
it would be nicer if you guys compared the features of Podium vs those of Artlantis.

i think im not the right person here to compare atlantis with podium because i have not use atlantis.
again just sending both podium and vray render.
i choose not to have post process so as to to see the direct ourput from podium and vraysu.this one is using the jsut release beta1.5B from podium. the rendering time is 1m 35s.
this one is rendered using podium1.4.1 lighted up with pure omni lights.
and this one is using vray su. the rendering time i think is really fast.
